Welding & Fabrication

Welding is not a skill that most people need on a daily basis; however, when you do need custom welding and fabrication for your vehicle, you want to know that it’s done properly the first time to avoid costly repairs or replacement parts that could have been avoided by having the job done right the first time. At J & W Mechanical Fleet Services, we understand the value of maintaining skills that will benefit your fleet, and welding and fabrication are a solid area for our repair shop.

Traditional Skills

Welding and fabrication are skills from years past that in these days of robot assembly lines may not be used as much as they once were. However, the art form is still used in many repair shops and whether you’re looking for a custom job or a simple repair, our technicians will be able to help you get back on the road quickly.

Trailers

Some of the main welding & fabrication needs are on adding on to your current vehicle. When you want to tow a trailer, you’ll need to have a hitch added to your truck in either a permanent or semi-permanent way that will be sturdy enough to allow for a several thousand pound trailer to ride behind safely. Once you have your trailer rigged up, you’ll also need to assure that you have backup lights and all the safety features that are required to make your vehicle road-ready.

Snow Plows

If you’re working with a fleet of snow plows, there’s a pretty good chance that you’re going to need some custom welding and fabrication at some point. Snow plows can sustain significant damage by hitting objects that are hidden under piled snow—such as cars, large rocks or even concrete abutments or sidewalks—and all of these impacts can have a negative impact on the overall effectiveness of your snow plows. Keeping them in good working order allows you to continue to maintain the areas that your fleet is assigned to.

Rust Repair

If you’re working in situations where salt or other road debris are involved, there’s a good possibility that you’re going to lose some paint, which leaves your vehicle open to rusting much more quickly than you realize. However, if you catch the rust spots quickly you can stop them from spreading and causing problems with the structural integrity of your vehicle.

No matter your welding and fabrication needs for your heavy duty truck fleet, J & W Mechanical Fleet Services can provide you with the knowledge and assistance to get your fleet moving—quickly
